Review of Black Dynamite (2009) by Lee B — 29 Jul 2010
3.02 stars. "Black Dynamite" is a great Blaxsploitation satire, that even has the look and production value of an old 70's film. Errors are not ommitted, such as dangling microphones and horrible editing.
In fact it's all intentional. The film lampoons and works hard at mocking every storyline it can find, all the way down to its finale. That's probably the downfall of the film as "Black Dynamite" is that it milks it all so badly, it's a bit over the top to the point of childish.
It is along the same lines as "I'm Gonna Git' You Sucka" and "Hollywood Shuffle" more than any of those horrible disaster and epic movies. In a strange way, it's a great study and artistic effort, especially if you are old enough to remember this genre of film.
Worth the rental.
