Review of Black Dynamite (2009) by Andrew H — 29 Jul 2010
DYNAMITE, DYNAMITE!!! "Black Dynamite" is an excellent 70s blaxploitation spoof that packs in the laughs as well as the fun. Michael Jai White ("The Dark Knight") is hysterical as Black Dynamite, a brotha' who you do not mess with.
He goes on a mission to avenge his brother's death and stop the selling of smack to orphans. Yes, it's as ludicrous as it sounds. The film rolls on with cheesy dialouge, horrific camera work, bad acting, dumb action scenes, and just overall horrible filmmaking, which perfectly fits its bill of creating a wonderful spoof of the 70s blaxploitation movies.
For most of the film, I found myself with a big, goofy grin on my face. Now, I really didn't laugh out loud for most of this movie, but this was a largely entertaining movie. I can't give this anymore than a B just because its not A material, and it never pretends to be.
Overall, thiis is just a stupid but hugely fun spoof that will entertain the whole way through.
