Review of Black Dynamite (2009) by Brad S — 25 Aug 2010
One of the funniest films I've seen in a while, Black Dynamite goes beyond blaxploitation spoofs I'm Gonna Git you Sucka and Undercover Brother. Michael Jai White dons the big afro and mustache and is unrecognizeable as Black Dynamite, a former CIA agent, Vietnam Vet, Kung-Fu champion, street hustler, and ladies man.
Of course, Black Dynamite has to fight The Man's efforts to fill the black community and orphanages with malt liquor and smack, and he has to find out who killed his brother as well (hint - it's The Man!).
The humor is a mix of the subtle and in your face and would make the Godfather of spoofs Mel Brooks proud. Excellent!
