Review of Black Dynamite (2009) by Jonathan B — 07 Feb 2011
An often hilarious parody of blaxploitation films of old, Black Dynamite follows the life of one tough CIA operative, whoâ(TM)s got the right lines and the right movies to bring any fool to his (or her) knees. The story (which involves Mr. Dynamite looking for revenge for the death of his brother) is filled with enough nods to keep it moving at a brisk pace. Everything from intentionally corny dialogue, intentionally shoddy camera work, and odd cameos from camera equipment will have you laughing more than you think.
I hope they make more films in a similar style since itâ(TM)s more a tribute than anything else to these old films that may not have had the execution or budget, but they had the style and grit.
