I haven't seen a lot of blaxploitation films - just "Shaft," "Shaft's.

Big Score" and "Superfly" though for this movie you don't have to.

There's a very fine line between paying tribute to that genre of cinema.

And parodying it, this film is right on the line. Its absolute genius, from.

The sharp, quoteable dialogue to the intended mistakes you can pick out as blaxploitation movies in the 70s had these due to bad editing (as at.

Some points the actors freeze on screen for a few seconds where an.

Edit should have took place) or not having enough time to correct mistakes.

Michael Jai White is first class as the lead role, doesn't surprise me.

Watching the DVD extras to find he has a lot of real life martial arts skills.

He also looks very similar to Richard Roundtree of "Shaft" fame which helps too.

Even just watching it the attention to detail from that era is amazing - for.

A few seconds I actually thought this is one of those films from long ago.

Also the soundtrack is made of original songs which came as a big surprise.

Only thing I can really compare it to is "Undercover Brother" which I saw.

In the cinema years ago, after seeing "Black Dynamite" it shows the weaknesses in the other film I mentioned. "Undercover Brother" is pure parody though sometimes it just isn't funny and tries to make fun of too many blaxploitation conventions without really respecting those types of films.

True - the plot in "Black Dynamite" does go a bit over of the top towards.

The end, but it gets away with that. The actors seem to have really done.

Their homework in that field of 70s cinema, that even the action scenes.

Are high quality too.

Also it doesn't feel too long - "Superfly" for one example has a lot of.

Padding where not much goes on, sure Curtis Mayfield does his singing but.

There's loads of the lead role just walking the streets for no real reason. The pace of this film is good and doesn't ever get boring.

I can see myself watching this film a number of times - fine, I like soul and funk but its more than that. I suggest you jive turkeys watch this film real soon, you dig?
