Review of Black Dynamite (2009) by Matt C — 14 Sep 2011
CULT MOVIE MONTH.
REVIEW #:017.
BLACK DYNAMITE [2009]: Without a doubt one the best modern comedies that I have seen in a fair while is a pitch -perfect spoof & homage of the short lived exploitation genre of Blacksploitation films 1970's. BLACK DYNAMITE excels at making jokes and gags out of everything found in a lot of low-budget Blacksploitation films like boom microphones clearly in frame, the crude editing, the over the top back-story of the main hero, a brilliant sound track that sounds like music of the 1970's, the fashions, hairstyles, architecture, and cars that makes it feel like a real & genuine Blacksploitation from the 1970's even though it was made in 2009! Complete with a brilliant script that complies all of the clichés of the sub-genre, and an all round brilliant cast that really sell the film well, it's official this is going to be a cult classic one day which is why it gets a solid 80% from me.
