Review of Black Death (2010) by Hilrie K — 14 Nov 2011
If you were thinking you might go against everything that is right and good and watch the 2011 Season of the Witch, Don't do it! Watch this instead. A dark and objective view of the cruel barbarism of the 14th century.
Against the backdrop of a plague, err. . . plagued landscape, Black Death is a sort of morality piece. The whole tone of the film reeks of desperation and fear, and the long treks through the woods are nicely broken up by some good swordplay scenes.
The end, though maybe a bit abrupt and heavy handed in some ways, was really quite horrifying. Well worth watching.
