Review of Black Dahlia (2006) by Erin C — 23 Oct 2008
Based on James Ellroy's breakthrough novel, there are plenty of potentials...and yet all is reduced from a master noir novel about the most mysterious murder case in Hollywood into a muddled retreat of Hitchcock's work ('Vertigo') as you might have expected from a De Palma movie.
The plot is quite confusing, with some bits don't make much sense and at most of the time lack of any focus at all. This is still a watchable film though, mainly due to the visual intricacies De Palma created that proved him to be a master technician.
