Review of Black Dahlia (2006) by Trevor L — 02 Feb 2009
A top notch director, an A-List cast and the screenwriter of LA Confidential and what do you get? A mediocre drama that could have been so much better. While Josh Hartnett is hit or miss as "Bucky", the story's hero and our narrator, Aaron Eckhart is fantastic as his partner, a cop with a short temper and an obsession to solve the murder of The Black Dahlia.
Now, about halfway through, the movie begins to lose focus with uncovering a young girl's murder and side steps into undercover lesbianism. Wait, what? And then there's the matter of the conclusion.
..you'll just be scratching your head by then. So all I can say is the cinematography looks great, the cast is good, but when the plot falls apart, you've only got so much to say in the end.
