Review of Black Dahlia (2006) by Jessyca F — 18 Aug 2009
Technically ok. Nice attempt on noir, but DePalma does not deliver this time. The star I gave is actually for his vision, the allusions to The Man Who Laughs and the art direction that was pretty good, except for Dahlia's moments on screen, not slightly realistic based on the kind of video camera used back in the days, really not convincing, just as the mediocre interpretations. Really exaggerated, as fake as can be. The story line is just plain boring, and along with the actors, just made the movie tedious. Such a shame; so much could be done with Dahlia's story.
If it wasn't enough, I dare to say, the movie was really sexist. Do not waste 2 hours of your life with it.
