Review of Black Dahlia (2006) by O W D — 27 Dec 2009
Wwhy was it not Curtis 'LA Confidential' Hanson directing this film? Harsh on DePalma but this hasn't the punch or tautness Hanson created with Ellroy's other novel-turned-film; LA Confidential.
The cast is strong, the director in truth is also good and the Black Dahlia is America's Jack the Ripper, so why does it leave viewers feeling empty handed?
It's not like is short at two hours. Maybe it's because it could have been told with an injection of pace. Like everything in the 40's compared with today, it's not up to the frenetic speed of modern life.
