Review of Black Dahlia (2006) by Ben H — 04 Apr 2012
As much as his films are worsening, I just can't let De Palma go. 'The Black Dahlia' is a lush looking film noir, where the camera glides, cheats and lies to us (typical De Palma), much like the suspects in this murder mystery.
But the whole thing is directed with hardly any passion for the material. Subplots and narrative alleyways meet dead ends, and the audience is left isolated and unengaged.
