Review of Black Christmas (2006) by Andrew C — 09 Nov 2008
Remake of an alleged 'classic', this is faster-paced, better detailed and far gorier than the '70s original.
Of course, as a modern movie it needs to explain almost everything two or three times for the hard-of-thinking, so the dialogue is mostly characters explaining the plot to each other over and over. Also, every girl in the house has to be a complete bitch to everyone, and Christmas is treated even more cynically than necessary.
Apart from that, this is prime brain-off entertainment, and better than the original, which is bizarrely over-rated.
