Review of Black Book (2006) by Tamara B — 28 Feb 2009
A WWII spy movie with nudity, action, suspense, romance and a good story - what else do you need? Well, a Dutch movie should always have Rutger Hauer in it - this one had a Jeroen Krabbé lookalike, which was good enough.
The acting was good, especially Carice van Houten impressed me. The technical execution was flawless, exactly what should be expected from a European big budget film. Now if only Renny could wrangle up something equally impressive with Mannerheim.
The film could have been a bit shorter but then again there was so much substance behind the story that it could even be expanded into a mini series.
