Review of Black Book (2006) by Aysha S — 04 May 2009
Carice van Houten is captivating as the young woman drawn into the Resistance in the Hague. This is a spellbinding film - every time I thought I'd pinned down who the "good guys" and "bad guys" were, I was surprised by yet another brilliantly-executed plot twist.
If I had dared to glance away even for a moment, I would have never caught up. The film demanded constant attention and thought; I admire the fact that I wasn't spoon-fed yet another production meant for an easily bored audience.
Brilliant.
