Review of Black Book (2006) by Jummi H — 10 Aug 2009
Woman poses as a Nazi during WWII to survive.
This movie was supposed to be long but time went by flying :).
That's a sign of a good movie isn't it? Well I'm kind of biased to judge these type of films since I love history and usually enjoy these type of films. The leading actress Carice van Houten (yes it's the same name as the Cocoa) is really good in her role. Other actors seem to be of not so important to the story. There are some goofy moments in the film. I especially encourage you to watch the nazi musician (playerd by Waldemar Kobus) and his expressions and overall acting. He was really funny at times. Also there was a bit too much inessential exposure of female bodyparts. But then again this is a Paul Verhoeven movie (with all his trademarks) and without a doubt he loves human anatomy.
