Review of Black Beauty (1994) by Bill T — 13 Apr 2011
Comparing this to the British spit and gristle version of 1971 is like comparing apples and oranges. This version, although I havent read the book, is definitely the more sanitized of the two. It follows the story of a horse (voiced by Alan Cumming!) as he goes along on a life's tale, from master to master.
It's definitely watchable, with some recognizable actors thrown in from time to time, but the whole voice-over thing sort of dumbs down the story (they should have maybe stuck with narration perhaps?) but the visuals are quite nice.
