Review of Biutiful (2010) by Jia Tong N — 04 May 2011
Javier Bardem single-handedly holds up the emotional foundation of this gritty look at the underbelly of the globalized world. Just like the Sagrada FamÃlia in the backdrop, Biutiful is an unfinished tale of a personal struggle to do good when everything around is crumbling, including himself.
The question of what happens to illegal immigrants and those waylaid by society is posed very well leaving the answer to the viewer.
