Review of Bitter Harvest (2017) by Natalie S — 24 Feb 2017
Very thoughtful and beautiful film bringing attention to a horrific genocide in a subtle subtle and engaging manner. Artful cinematography highlighted Ukrainian traditions and managed to be suggestive without being gratuitously violent with respect to the famine and fight scenes.
The incredibly complex events and Stalin's motivations were portrayed as best one could considering the expansive topic, running time, and low budget.
