Review of Birthday Girl (2002) by Dwayne L — 18 Nov 2010

Some movies succeed in mixing up different genres. This isn't one of them. The blend of comedy, drama, romance and thriller just feels awkward. At 1 hour and 33 minutes, there's not enough room to properly develop each aspect of the movie. I liked the general idea but it just felt like a summarised version of what could have been.

Nicole Kidman's performance made it worthwhile, although I can't comment on her Russian pronounciation and accent when her character does speak English - it sounded decent to me but I'm not Russian.
