Review of Birth (2004) by David J — 29 Aug 2008
Beneath its Bunuel-esque veneer, this is a pretty hollow experience. Jean-Claude Carriere, who was Bunuel's writing partner for so many classics in the '60s and '70s, sets up a fascinating premise in this film, and director Glazer succeeds in generating an air of incorporeal menace, but the whole thing eventually falls still-born from the screen when it comes to dramatic development.
