Review of Birth (2004) by Mattias E — 29 Mar 2009
Birth handles the theme of reincarnation very delicately, never giving in to it's sensationalistic cinematic possibilities. Glazer goes for a general feel of sadness rather than spookiness, concentrating totally on emotional impact.
There's also a great sense of uncertainity which sticks until the end, made effective by Harris Savides beautiful cinematography, up to par with his majestic work with Gus Van Sant.
