Review of Birth (2004) by Josh L — 28 Dec 2010
I found the theme of the whole movie was intriguing and mind-boggling. I can't say the same for the storyline. It had an interesting subject at hand, but the writers sort of missed it. It seems very unrealistic the way the characters are led to believe in something so quickly. There wasn't a build-up at all.
I must applaude Nicole Kidman on her fine solid performance as a love-torn woman between her late husband and her husband-to-be. Yes I suppose it was strange that Cameron Bright got into the bathtub with Nicole Kidman, but if we look deeper, it's what couples do naturally and since the boy believed he was her dead husband... it just shows love between them. Anne Heche is probably one of the most underrated actresses around. She's excellent here, even with such a small role. Small but pivotal, I might add.
Fine acting + obscure plot = an uncomfortably interesting film.
