Kidman's performance is the best attribute of the movie. I liked the movie, although the plot was jumpy at points and I wasn't trilled by the kid's performance. Kidman's character was written and played elaborately and compassionately.

And for the ending, I don't agree with those who like to think there's an unsolved mystery about the movie like "the boy lies in the end to protect Anna from being hurt!". I think the mistress succeeds at completing her initial plan!
