Review of Birth (2004) by Ryan V — 23 Jul 2012
Anna (Nicole Kidman), who has been haunted by the death of her husband for the past ten years, is finally willing to remarry and move on with her life. However, a ten year old boy (Cameron Bright) drops in out of nowhere and claims to house the reincarnated spirit of her dead husband.
This causes much anguish for Anna, especially when she begins to believe this crazy story. Birth is beautifully photographed and it has an interesting premise, but it's also crippled by disaffected acting.
Nobody in this movie seems capable of communicating in a tone other than "pretentious art film whisper".
