Review of Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) (2014) by Subhodeep G — 14 May 2015
I was expecting the movie to get better from the opening scene until about an hour and a half through. It was boring, hard to follow, and just unfunny. The only redeeming quality this movie had is the way it was shot, very interesting.
Maybe since I haven't worked in Hollywood or on Broadway, I just don't understand the quality of the film, yet that is the core.
Problem. A movie should not alienate viewers. I can picture a collection of hipsters raving about how artistic it is. This movie was pure Oscar bait and it accomplished.
Its goal.
Truly unfortunate American Sniper lost to this overly artistic, almost narsisistic film.
