Sometimes artsy just becomes fartsy. The one-take look of the film is interesting - and got an Oscar - but does little to advance a story suitable only for the hardest bitten of NYC theater fans & Oscar voters.

The fine cast doesn't add much. And even the one-take effect runs out-of-gas after about an hour. Keaton shows he's "an actor." Fine. That craft is much better deployed in "The Founder.

" See that; skip this. For the movie to win Best Picture & Director, incredibly, but the nominated lead actor doesn't win? Something's goofy with that, and should be a warning. Sometimes the T-metering needs recalibration, as here.

Oscar voting, too. Goofy waste of time is the bottom line.
