Review of Birdman of Alcatraz (1962) by Jeff B — 23 Jan 2008
Overlong but entertaining film starring Burt Lancaster as the title character. Though I've been told the film really stretches the truth on what the real character was like, I never knew the whole story behind him, I just assumed he kept birds while a prisoner.
A great cast, especially Lancaster who is just excellent as Robert Stroud. Karl Malden also does a great job in a small supporting role. It could have been shorter but it was never boring.
