Review of Birdemic: Shock and Terror (2010) by Noelle B — 15 Apr 2010
Has to be seen to be believed. While watching it I was certain someone was putting one over on me. Surely this is a joke? Well, it certainly is a well told joke whether it be accidental or on purpose. Wooden performances (the male lead is hilarious), horrid effects, no pacing and technical difficulties galore make it easy to see why Tim and Eric, whose previous obsession was the fantastically awful The Room, are now huge fans of this turkey? I mean eagle.
The director is a Vietnamese immigrant who saved up all his money from his job in Silicon Valley to make this labour of love. Much like Ed Wood?s films, even if there is no talent evident on screen, it?s actually pleasant to watch someone make their dream come true against all odds? that being having no idea how to make a film. Watch as our hero gets stuck in traffic, stops for gas and dances with his gal in a family restaurant. Oh, and he fights some birds and let?s the viewer know about global warming. Many, many times. .
