The story is poorly written copy of 1970's movies. It lacked anything required for a horror movie: empathy for characters, unpredictability, suspense, and even logic. Where Mist suceeds, this fails. Put simply, this movie lacked originality, character development, and linear story.
When making movies, don't mix successful comments from other movies and assume success. Just don't.
