Review of Billy Madison (1995) by Bill B — 23 Mar 2011
It's Adam Sandler in the beginning of his prime, and the mindless humor still make me crack up like it used to. The idea of a grown man repeating grades 1-12 all over again adds a certain tone to the movie that inevitably doubles its humor value, and this is especially true when taking a look at how Sandler reacts to and with the kids around him.
Sandler's crazy antics work well with the movie because the plot in itself has situations as crazy as Billy Madison himself (an invisible penguin, kids peeing their pants, and a bus driver played by Chris Farley!) In a way, Sandler's enjoyable character reminds us of what it was like to be in each progressing grade, without getting too superficial.
*I hated doing Z's in cursive as well*.
