Review of Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk (2016) by Hubert C — 22 Nov 2016
I haven't seen (it doesn't mean there isn't) a movie with so many interlaced flash back from the beginning of the film to the end. It is not easy to do it right as audience might get confused.
However, this part is executed well. The story is easy to understand but the deeper content might not be as digestible for the general public. In particular, the under middle class may not fully enjoy the ramification of the story.
Move critics, however, would have a lot to say about this movie, given it's from Ang Lee. My take on it is if 80% of US citizens going to the movie would get it. While this is fiction, it has amplified and addressed part of the reality.
The resolution is crisp. Not so sure this technology is best used in story like this but it's a start.
