Review of Billy Elliot (2000) by Aaron R — 28 Jul 2012
Billy Elliot strays away from a normal boy and joins a ballet group. With a struggling family during a mining strike tempers rise and emotion flows.
This is sort of a boy side of girl fight but obviously it's not boxing. It focuses on the hate that is received when doing something that's not.. Regular for boys.
There are spots that dragged and fell flat. The family's relationship seemed to change to quickly. And it could of been cut down a bit.
**spoiler**.
This movie does have its moments. There is a scene where billy's dad goes back to work during the mining strike to try gain money for Billy's ballet school he is striving for. This is a very strong scene which will really get deep.
This movie proves a big point. "just be you" and there is nothing wrong with doing something different.
