Review of Bill Cunningham New York (2011) by Ben F — 28 May 2011
In this breezy-bouncy documentary, director Richard Press approaches NY Times fashion photographer Bill Cunningham with probing interest--he wants to know what makes Mr. Cunningham tick. Does he regret not having any (known) personal friendships? And what's the story behind his religious faithfulness?
The movie doesn't provide any definitive answers. But we understand the main thing--that Mr. Cunningham loves riding through streets and nightime parties, snapping pictures of the people whose clothes strike him as being beautiful and expressive. ****:).
