You don't watch this film for killer special effects and award winning peformances; you watch this film for sheer entertainment, and on that level, Bill & Ted is great. It's not got a deep plot but do you really care? Bill & Ted, while not laugh out funny, is extremely entertaining and you can easily have fun with it.
The funny thing for me is that I can never watch the Matrix or Bram Stoker's Dracula the same way again, because I'm now too used to seeing Keanu Reeves as the idiot he is in this film. The production at times is a little stale and it may be a tad dated, but that's not to stop you watching this film to look back at 80's family comedies at there absolute best.
I wouldn't call it excellent, but I will call it pretty good.
