Review of Bill & Ted Face the Music (2020) by Ehtaco — 29 Aug 2020
A great addition to this excellent trilogy. I was worried about this movie as a big fan of the first two. This is happening thirty years after the sequel - that is crazy. The movie could've very easily been messed up, but I am so, so happy that they nailed it. The mood, the humor, it all feels so similar to the first two movies. Keanu and Alex fall back into character immediately and it was awesome to see. The returning characters, the new additions (for the most part), I loved it all. This movie is a strong 8 for me. I loved everything about it. I was pretty indifferent on the daughter characters. I'm not sure if it was the subplot with them, the characters themselves, or the actresses. But throughout the movie you definitely warm up to them a little bit.
While talking about the negatives; the wives subplot was kind of pointless overall. When the movie is running on all cylinders for the first half, it is genuinely top notch and one of the most true sequels to a classic movie(s) I have seen in a very long time. But in the last half, the movie gets very busy yet somehow at the same time also feels like it slows down way too drastically? Overall; I loved this movie and I'm so happy they nailed this thirty years later. The creators and everyone involved deserve all the praise in the world for doing Bill & Ted justice.
