Review of Bigger Stronger Faster* (2008) by Josh Z — 03 Aug 2008
Really good look at "the other side" of the steroids/performance enhancing drugs debate. Given that "OMG! BAD!" is all we ever hear in in the popular media, a documentary like this is not only timely, but provides an important examination of why we view performance enhancers as problematic (and why that assertion itself is problematic).
It was produced by the same people who did Bowling for Columbine and Fahrenheit 9/11, and you can definitely see the similarities. It's narrated and really, overall, has the look and feel of a Michael Moore movie. I'm a Moore fan and enjoy his style, so this works for me.
Some of the deleted scenes (available on YouTube) are also quite good, if you want to get a taste of the movie.
