Review of Bigger Stronger Faster* (2008) by Joe P — 10 Oct 2008
An excellent documentary, once again about hypocrisy in the world and in America especially, but this time from a very interesting angle. Namely, steroids.
This movie is sad and entertaining at the same time, which is pretty weird to watch. It further destroys the image of many of my childhood heroes, well maybe not heroes but idols (well, maybe not idols either, but cool people at the least), but it is also very entertaining and surprisingly insightful while doing so. Today's society is dissected with alarming accuracy, and it is not a pretty sight. Most things in our society seem not to be nowadays.
It is also quite touching to follow the careers and aspirations of the Bell brothers, mostly because they were always doomed to failure. Everyone cheats, because everyone wants to win. Incredible that some people get a pass at it and some don't. And of course, either money, power or fame is always at the root of it all. This world is shit, but it's the only one we got. If they ever find another, I'll be the first in line for the ticket out of Dodge.
