Review of Bigger Stronger Faster* (2008) by Jess K — 13 Apr 2009
Expands from a checklist of 'roided childhood heroes into an examination of our national mindset. Bell manages to examine the steroids issue from several angles (physical, mental, environmental), and even pull in every other from of "performance enhancement.
" The format is similar Michael Moore, or any of the myriad of first-person documentarians, but Bell's personal tie to the subject makes his presence less distracting than msot other social docs.
Best of all, Bell raises many questions toward the conventional views of steroids, and American culture, without pressing an opinion upon the viewer.
