A hopeless mess that some judicious editing would have helped, this John Carpenter attempt at merging Hollywood and Hong Kong has its moments, but in the end it fails as a comedy and as an adventure by trying to be both.
Interesting special effects, but the story just fails to click. A little explanation about the relationship between Kim Catrall's character and Victor Wong's band of ghostbusters early on would have saved some confusion.
Russell's swaggering John Wayne cut-up gets tired fast.
