Review of Big Trouble (2002) by Zack P — 11 Jul 2006
Based on Dave Barry's first best-selling novel.
Dave Barry's offbeat characters, pop culture references, and dry humor make the film's highlights hilarious.
However, what other movie has such a lame storyline? There basically is no story here. It does not deal with complex characters (Get Shorty). It merely tries to be funny. It succeeds.
But a more convincing story would have been nice.
"Was that a goat?".
"All you know how to make are reservations.".
"I'm gonna somewhere it's not so, I don't know, stupid.".
"Fritos.".
"Would you like some coffee? That's more of a dare than an offer.".
"Discovery channel.".
"Is that a gun in your pants or were you just happy to see me?".
"I own this house. You work for me. And I want to suck your toes.".
"There's no rule that says I can't fart on your steak. But it's called manners. I'm asking you to extend the same courtesy. You're smoking cigars, I'm eating a 27 dollar steak, and my steak tastes like a cigar.".
