Review of Big Trouble (2002) by Alexander C — 30 Jan 2008
Funniest movie I've seen in a while. I saw this 6 years ago, and it is much better the second time through. It's full of predictable and cliche comedy bits, but somehow manages to still be funny.
This is based on an extremely funny novel by Dave Barry. It's the little background things that are taken directly from that book that make the movie hilarious. I think this is what you would call a screw-ball comedy.
Very hard to pull off, but I really enjoyed it. Most people would probably write this movie off as cheesy or stupid but for some reason it really struck a comedic cord for me. I guess this actually makes two Tim Allen movies (the other being Galaxy Quest) that I actually like.
