Review of Big Trouble (2002) by Oliver H — 29 Aug 2010
After watching only 40 minutes of this film, I came to the conclusion that it wasn't all that funny. Tim Allen is in this one sparingly, as near as I can tell.
The film has its moments, particularly Dennis Farina, the former head detective on Crime Story, the TV groundbreaking series by Michael Mann (also of Miami Vice fame). Dennis always adds to a movie when he is in it, particualarly when he faces down a loser fellow with a lit cigar in a restaurant.
But alas, I couldn't make it through this movie because it failed to amuse. The filming was first class, the acting was pretty good, but it seemed like so much chopped liver, pieced together by somebody to make a film. Like little snippets of movies stuck together to make a longer one.
As I live and breathe, this one went down in flames. But that doesn't mean it has to be that way for you too. Try it.
