Review of Big Trouble (2002) by Erik G — 24 Jan 2012
As what the poster for 'Big Trouble' says, they have 45 minutes to save the world; they need 46. The lives of several Miami denizens, from ad agents to hit men to street thugs to police offers to school-children, intersect with humorous and dangerous results. It's all happening while two men are in a plot to carry a bomb into a plane. I watched it for my own enjoyment.
That's a post-9/11 comedy film here, as the 2002 release of 'Big Trouble' has a bomb plot as its plot element. Many Americans needed an OK to laugh out of the 9/11 attacks and they got a Tim Allen film. Of course they found humor to laugh at. There's a hallucination-squirting toad, runaway goats, falls, gun shootings, and talk radio broadcasting sports news that bored out hit men. Oh yes, and Jason Lee appears as Jesus look-alike Puggy. Recently I saw the film, and laughed at all the mentioned things.
In short, 'Big Trouble' receives a big line of four stars.
