Review of Big River Man (2009) by Tom B — 20 Feb 2012
An amusing and interesting documentary about a big river swimmer.
Martin Strell is an overweight, 53 year old Slovenian man who swims the world's biggest and most dangerous rivers to raise awareness of world water issues (and for self fame). His character makes the unique film.
Martin is a funny, sociable man, he drinks a bottle of wine a day, swims 20 miles a day, dines on horse burgers and is a Slovenian star/ambassador. This film documents how he, and his manager son, complete a PR rich project (swimming the 4,000 mile dangerous Amazon river).
Interesting, unique stuff if you are interested (in human challenges too) and documentaries.
