Review of Big Night (1996) by Stephen B — 29 Mar 2009
I only saw this once and I'm not sure I even remember the fundamental plot points or characters beyond Primo and Secundo, but the food! My God, this film gets food, and more importantly, its preparation, its use as a communication tool, as a transmitter of culture and tradition and ultimately, love.
I'm almost afraid to try the legendary timpano dish for it might not measure up in real life to the Mt. Olympus level stature it has in my mind because of this film. And one of the 5 best closing credit sequences of all time.
