Review of Big Miracle (2012) by Jennie J — 19 Mar 2012
My mom always told me things come in 3's, and I guess this applies to the movies as well. Case in point a run of three animal rescue/saving/redemption type movies. First it was Dolphin Tale, then We Bought a Zoo, and finally (well not finally if you count War Horse) Big Miracle.
I'd say this is better then Dolphin Tale, not as good as Zoo. The writing is way better then Dolphin, but I cared about the characters more in Zoo. This is based on a true story from 1988 when some whales were caught in the ice in Alaska.
Now if you were to believe the movie (and of course why wouldn't you), the entire country was captivated by these hard luck creatures. Everyone accept me I guess. This happened during my first or second year of college, oh I guess I now know why I didn't know much about it.
This is at the cheap theaters now, so it's worth the lower admission price.
