Review of Big Jake (1971) by Kevin R — 21 Sep 2013
The supporting cast beyond O'Hara, Cabot, and Boone is average at best, but the movie is fueled by the Duke's classic portrayal as Jacob McCandles. When his grandson is kidnapped and his ranchhands are massacred, McCandles returns home and gathers his two sons, his old Apache friend, and his faithful dog to go after the kidnappers and exchange $1,000,000 for him.
If you are a John Wayne fan, this is a must-see performance. A top ten job by him for sure.
