It was very cute, fun, heart warming, and kind of funny, but also lame, convenient, formulaic, and predictable. Overrated. Almost felt incomplete. An American movie version of Japanese anime? It was pretty simple and not "meaty", lacking in story and development, but still entertaining.
It's dangerous to mix impossible and cartoony with relate-able and touching, but I think it did a decent job.
