Review of Big Fish (2003) by Socsy T — 22 Oct 2011
This is my favorite tim burton movie and certainly one of my favorite films of all time. tim burton puts his quirky but magical spin on the storybook life of edward bloom, a man who refused to be bound by convention and ordinary life.
ewan mcgregor and albert finney successfully brings to life an eccentric storyteller and his world of fantasy, magical beings and out of this world adventures. it's a heartwarming story about an extraordinary man and his doubting son, their lives, loves, triumphs and realizations.
the movie is filled with beautiful special effects, visually stimulating backdrops and wonderfully crafted characters. but this is not for everyone, if you're the type who takes things literally you may not appreciate or understand what this movie is all about.
you might think it strange and even boring. it's not meant to be taken for what it is, there's more to this film than meets the eye and you have to dig deeper to truly understand its message.
